For people who are from Utah in their late thirties or early forties, self-care starts to take a different form. While young adults are content with a spa appointment to de-stress, you might want to go for Botox injections instead. Go ahead and do it if it makes you feel good. When you look and feel good, you’re happier. That’s what self-care is all about, isn’t it?
Stresses Come from All Fronts
Even students have to deal with a lot of things. All your courses might have decided to dump projects on you, and they are due the same week. There’s also that final exam you need to ace if you don’t want to repeat the course. It’s okay to treat yourself to a quiet dinner or night at home without all those projects looming over your head. Recharge, and you’ll be more productive after.
To Socialize or Not?
Some young adults want to be out on a Friday night to unwind from a stressful work week. Others, however, prefer to stay at home and binge-watch something on Netflix. You do not have to conform to another person’s way of self-care if it does not suit your personality. It’s all about finding activities that make you feel well-rested and recharged. You’re caring for yourself, so if that means staying in bed the whole weekend, go for it.
With the spotlight on self-care, it may seem like something that should be done in public. But if the idea stresses you, it’s not the right kind of self-care for you.
